Our History

Bonanza Produce Company opened its doors in 1968 here in the Reno Sparks area. Our founder John H. (Jack) Burrows, had began working in the produce industry many years before. Jack learned different facets of the industry in the late 40’s and 50’s by owning a mushroom company and developing produce contacts throughout the San Juaquin Valley. He and his wife Nellie moved to the Reno area in the late 40’s and began supplying some of the local markets with product from the Modesto, Merced area. Eventually the two purchased what became Bonanza Produce and established warehouses in South Lake Tahoe and Sparks. As Bonanza Produce and the Burrows family grew, Jack and Nellie’s sons took and active roll and expansion continued. We moved into a bigger facility here in Sparks that remains our home today. We also added a warehouse in Elko Nevada in 1974 to expand our services into the Eastern part of the state. Over the years Bonanza has grown into the largest produce company in Northern Nevada. We’ve expanded and remodeled a couple of times and to continue growing using the same principles that Jack and Nellie instilled so many years ago.

Family values still hold true today with the sons and grandsons working daily. Knowledge and experience are so much of what we do here and between our buying and sales departments we have over 180 years of experience on staff, numerous Bonanza employees have been with us over 30 and 40 years. We value our relationships and proudly offer many of the same brand names that started with us so many years ago. We appreciate all of business partners that have helped us grow and prosper for these many years; and look forward to growing, improving and evolving with these changing times in our industry. Yet still continuing the core principles that have helped us grow together with you since 1968.
